Miss Grace Lim was my children’s piano teacher for a few months. In that short period, Grace demonstrated her ability to teach with diligence and dedication. My children were both preparing for their Piano grace 8 examination having failed in previous attempts.

Miss Grace took over their regular teacher’s classes just in the last three and a half months before the examination in the hope of helping them change their style of playing to improve their chances of passing. After much perseverance from her and the children, both my children passed, one with Merit.

Miss Grace has shown herself to be highly responsible to her commitment to ensure at least passing grace for the children in such a short span of time. My son had been taking piano lessons with Miss Lim since July 2014 till present. Before beginning lessons with Miss Lim, my Son had taken lessons with another piano teacher in a school setting for almost 2.5 year. However, there was hardly any improvement in my son’s musical disposition. Miss grace Lim acted as the piano teacher of both of my daughters for a couple for years. Despite the relatively short period of time, Miss Lim has displayed excellent teaching skills, and was generally a very responsible person. Under her teaching and guidance, my two daughters successfully completed their grade 5 and Grade 8 ABRSM piano examination, despite one barely scraping through Grade 4 and another failing her grade 7 examination.

During the period of around 2 years, Miss Lim proved herself to be an excellent teacher, pointing out different methods and strategies to handle the examinations catered to the different needs of the grades. Her methods were largely very effective, yet simple to understand, enabling both my daughter to be able to follow her teachings without much difficulties. Since both of my daughters have different learning styles, Miss Lim tended to craft each lesson differently, targeting the interest of each of them to allow for a more fruitful lesson.

Also, Miss Lim was very responsible. She generally arrives punctually for every lesson, and in the rare times she was late, she would provide a reason and text ahead of lesson. In terms of timing and duration, she planned every lesson well, and when she was a need to increase the number of lessons as the examination date neared, she would raise this matter much ahead of time, allowing for any preparations needed. On the Whole, if she saw a need to discuss anything, she would definitely do this ahead of time, displaying traits of a responsible teacher.

Ms Grace was highly recommended to me by a friend when I was looking for a music teacher for my 7 years old daughter, Jovia. Prior to engaging Ms Grace, Jovia was learning piano in Yamaha School for about a year. She has come to a point of stagnant in her learning and progress was slow.

With Ms Grace, she has brought Jovia’s interest back by introducing Disney songs such as Frozen and Sleeping Beauty in to the lessons while preparing her for Grade 1 examination. Within a short span of a few months, we started to see progress by leap and bound. We are able to hear of complexity as well. We are amazed with Grace’s ability to simplify complex songs for beginner and tailor her lessons to suit Jovia’s learning style.

Kid being kid, there are times that Jovia would like to give up especially when the going gets tough. Ms Grace encourages her to preserve and stay connect with her. It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Miss Grace Lim. My daughter, Yan Yu had been taking piano lessons with Miss Lim since January 2017 till present. Before beginning lessons with Miss Lim, Yan Yu had taken lessons with another piano teacher for almost 2 years.

However, there is hardly any progress nor I could see any potential in Yan Yu’s musical inclination.

The progress that Yan Yu made during the 10 months with Miss Lim far exceeded the expectations I had and she had demonstrated to me the characteristics of a dedicated teacher. Miss Lim is a very passionate teacher and she is also very committed in her teaching. She takes time to understand my child’s mind and interests. She also taught my child to play songs from animation like Frozen and Sleeping Beauty in addition to following the music syllabus closely in preparation for the graded examinations. Yan Yu had also gained more confidence in herself.

I will definitely recommend Teacher Grace Lim to students learning Piano.
